How to Set Up a Daily Drink Goal You Can Actually Track
Set a personal drink target, standardize serving sizes, and build a repeatable routine for logging drinks.

A daily drink goal becomes easier to track when the target, serving sizes, and logging habit stay consistent. If a serving means something different from one entry to the next, reviewing your records gets harder. This setup is about making your tracking repeatable. It does not recommend an intake amount or treat an app goal as medical guidance.
Choose a target and define what you’ll log
Set a daily hydration goal in Waterly for your own tracking. Choose a target based on your preference or guidance you already have; this article does not prescribe an amount. Decide what you plan to record, then apply that rule consistently. Waterly lets you log water and other drinks, but recording different beverages does not mean they are equivalent or contribute identically to a goal.
Standardize your serving sizes
Start with the containers you use regularly. Decide what serving size you’ll use for each, based on the amount you usually pour or the container’s capacity. Keep the same interpretation from day to day: when you select a serving, it should represent the same amount each time.
Waterly lets you create custom serving sizes. Use that option for the serving sizes you use regularly. You only need sizes that fit your routine; adding one for every occasional cup can make logging feel more complicated. If your usual pour varies, choose a consistent way to record it instead of switching between estimates without a rule.
Attach logging to a daily cue
Pick a moment that already fits your routine, such as after finishing a drink or when you refill your container. Log then if it’s convenient, or choose a regular point later in the day. Either way, make the cue easy to remember and use it consistently.
When you add a drink, follow the same serving convention and record whether it was water or another drink. Logging entries as you go can make it easier to remember what you had. If you miss an entry and can’t recall it accurately, don’t invent a serving just to make the record look complete. An honest gap is more useful than a guessed amount.
Review your routine and adjust it
Waterly offers daily, weekly, and monthly reports. Use them to review how consistently you are recording over those periods. Are some days harder to log? Do you find yourself unsure which serving size to use? Would a different reminder or logging cue fit your routine better?
Use what you notice to simplify the process. Keep the serving sizes you actually use in mind, and choose a logging cue you can repeat. If you decide to change your target, remember that comparisons across reports may reflect that change. The reports can help you review your records; they do not determine what goal is right for you.
A useful setup is one you understand and can keep using: a personal target, familiar serving sizes, and a consistent way to record drinks.
